I've had versions of both playing happily on my old Win 98 box since they first became available and, apart from one identifying the others quarantine files as 'baddies', have had no problems.

I did try running the TeaTimer but it slowed things down to halt, probably because I have other things monitoring my Registry as well. If you don't already have it, perhaps you should get HijackThis and post a log so that someone who knows what's what can tell if you've got something nasty in your woodshed?

Normally, once you say no to something, it doesn't get past it - but again, it's not foolproof.
