Wireless keyboard freezes windows 7

Can you still ping the machine when it is frozen? I am having the same problem with one user. I went so far as to build a new PC for her and that PC began having the same problem.

I rebuilt the original and gave it back to her, without doing a Easy Transfer thinking perhaps she had some bad files in there or something and the problem came back. Second, what sometimes causes this is either the RAM or surprisingly, the power supply. That, or as mentioned above it is static or the Mobo is giving in, but that is very unlikely.

Correct it is 16GB or ram not 16Mb. Ram was tested using the native Win7 tool. It ran for about 16 hours and returned no errors. The power supply is less than 2 years old and rated at So there should be plenty of life in it. The PC is set on a wooden stool and does not touch anything else. The weather has been mild F here except for one or two windy days that did not align with the problem.

When run it stated that it did not apply to my machine. That brings up a FixMe you can run. I have started running the Task Manger full time with the Performance tab open in the lower right of my screen. I am running all applications with reduced windows so it is visible full time. This way, if I get another freeze, I can see if the cpu usage is still functioning.

Can you ping when it freezes? Can you check if you can ping next time it freezes? Reason I ask is this is the second or third post I have seen about freezes in the forum and they all seem to have NVIDIA graphics cards as a common denominator, so trying to rule out the graphics card, even though updated with latest driver, is a step to take.

Also, did this start to happens after a batch of Windows Updates, latest or older? I was able to see that the performance indicator in the task manager froze.

That cuts out any application issues and points to hardware. I do now suspect the video card. There have been 3 occurrences of Event ID during the last 2 weeks. The error reads: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". The system threw an error message that this had happened and then didrecover, so I had discounted this as the cause. Other symptoms I had overlooked: The computer sometimes seems to stutter where it shouldn't.

My google earth no longer works. Then it returns to normal and does it again. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Google Earth twice. Before you do a whole lot more tests do this. Open the comptuer. Get a good flashlight. Check ALL Capacitors. Look for slightly swolen ends or even leaking ones. The most simple solution to this is to distance the wireless transceiver from the docking station, and provide line of sight to the wireless mouse and keyboard.

If you already have a USB 2. You can also try the wireless headset on this cable as well to see if that helps. If you do not have a USB 2. Pat Plugable Technologies www. Thanks for the help. The USB 2. Thanks for your feedback. Problem identified is the wireless keyboard and mouse usb's in the dell docking station.

Thankfully I am moving forward but with new questions on resolving Win 7 and Dell docking stations. But at least my frustration levels are at a minimum at last having full control of my mouse and keyboard again. FYI: I am using Microsoft wireless keyboard Microsoft explorer Mouse wireless optical, blue lazerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Please advice thankssssssssssssssssssss.
